Saturday Quilting Bring and Share (41)

Welcome to another Sunday edition of Saturday Quilt & Share! (Note to self: Must do better at publishing on the correct week day in 2019!). Bring along the project you are working on and share in some of the conversations going around the worldwide quilty community. Use the comments section at the bottom of this post to share your thoughts on anything you’ve read here or share a conversation starter with us 🙂

Did you receive any patchwork-quilting gifts over the holiday? Here is my collection of quilty treats:

My Christmas Gifts 2018 by Allison Reid

A rotary cutter, quilting gloves, 2 Morris fat quarters (all gifted by my MIL who discovered the delights of a new shop called Pincushion situated in the picturesque Pantiles district of Royal Tunbridge Wells); a full 3m of IKEA white cotton fabric, and a long length of Indonesian batik print cotton. The latter bought for me by our Daughter and SIL whilst on their trip to SE Asia. I was also gifted a very sturdy photographic backdrop stand – I will hang my quilts from this in the hope of achieving quality photographs.

Welcome to Saturday Quilting Bring & Share … on Sunday! Better late than never… Bring along your current project and share in some of the latest conversations in the quilty on-line world. You are welcome to join in via the comments box at the end of this post 🙂

Trolley cover ready for quilting by Allison ReidI still have some work to do on the covers for the two storage trolley-come-bedside tables. Both covers are ready to be quilted. I’ve prepared them using a no-binding method so once the quilting is done the covers will be finished. I’m planning to stitch an all-over meander as a more elaborate quilting pattern won’t show up on all those scrap fabrics. Also, as covers for bedside tables, it’ll be best if the quilting is fairly even so they lie flat – less chance of drinks and table lamps wobbling over!

Before sharing some links to posts that have caught my interest I have a FINISH to share! Wahoo! The Missouri Star Quilt Company inspired Christmas Tree Chevron Quilt is now hanging in our hallway adding to the festive decor 🙂

I’ve actually managed to finish a project this week – ring the bells and send the ticker tape flying! Being at home all week, waiting on visitors to my little part of Hampshire Open Studios, has given me the perfect opportunity to sew.

Creatively ‘winging it’!

I am taking part in Hampshire Open Studios – here’s the link to my page on the website. We are half way through the 10 day art and craft trail. Throughout the County over 250 artists and crafters are opening up studio spaces, workshops and galleries for free and inviting people to follow the trail, dropping in on locations listed in their area.
