Not surprisingly I didn’t get a lot of sewing done last week. Some progress was made on the Jungle Luxe quilt. I quilted wavy horizontal lines across the quilt about 2-3 inches apart. I chose wavy lines so I could avoid stitching through the faces of the gilded animals. The thread colour is a turquoise Aurifil #5005. I’m surprised how often I use this colour thread for quilting. On the spool it looks so bright but used for quilting it blends well. I’m using it to hand stitch the binding too.
I continue to ponder the resurrected Modern HST Sampler blocks occupying my design wall. I purchased a blue-on-white text print thinking to use it for a ‘funky’ sashing layout.

I think the swirl of rainbow colours fabric would make a border in-keeping with the citrus colours of the blocks… Still pondering!
The main event coming up in my diary is the start of my Beginners Patchwork & Quilting Course! This coming Saturday! I’m so pleased five people have enrolled on the Course. In preparation I have lists everywhere – I’m jotting things down as soon as they come into my head. As a friend remarked, those thought bubbles need to be recorded immediately: the thoughts disappear as soon as the thought bubble pops! I’ve double checked the pattern for the Ohio Star Runner we’ll be making, made samples and will continue to gather things together, putting ticks on the lists as I go!

That Panda is just too cute, and I’m glad you thought to not quilt through the face. The quilting thread color is really pretty, but perhaps I think so because aqua is a favorite color. Lovely that you get to teach five people quiltmaking! I love teaching newbies, but haven’t since 2020. Have lotsa fun with it!
Thanks Linda. I did enjoy the teaching. Doing it two Saturdays on the trot did pretty much take over my life for a couple of weeks! It was very satisfying to see everyone getting to grips with the process of patchwork quilt making and being so pleased with the finished table runners they had produced.
