Welcome to Saturday Quilting Bring & Share. My holiday is over and I’m settling back into my natural habitat – my sewing room πŸ™‚ These regular SQB&S posts are intended as a way into the Worldwide Quilting Community so do join in: bring along your project and share in the conversations by clicking on the links to articles and posts written by quilters from around the globe. Use the comments box at the end of this page if you’d like to introduce a link to another topic or respond to what’s in this post πŸ™‚

At the end of our holiday we visited York and Beverley. Both very attractive towns, jam packed full of history.

Floor tiles in Beverley Minster were sure to catch the eye of this patchwork addict!

More of these visits in a later post…

We drove the 250+ miles from Yorkshire back to Hampshire on Thursday. Lots of lorries, lots of rain and oceans of spray… but thankfully no delays.

Since getting back in the sewing room I’ve added the borders and made the binding for the second Square in a Square quilt.

Both quilt tops: borders and bindings in the opposite colourways.

These quilt tops are now folded away in a box awaiting a delivery of wadding and time to search for suitable backing fabrics.

Later today I will collect my Pfaff sewing machine from the service department of Franklins in Salisbury. I’m so looking forward to having a sewing machine that purrs rather than growls! Bless it, the machine was functioning well despite obviously being in desperate need of some professional TLC. We shall be reunited after our refreshing holidays, all set to tackle the next round of projects together πŸ˜€

This weekend I’m revisiting a project. My Into The Woods pattern is nearing completion and I’d like to make a start on a monochromatic version of the runner in preparation for a workshop I’m holding in July (details on the Workshop page of this site).

Below are just a few links to launch you into what’s been occurring in the Worldwide Quilting Community. If you’d like some more links and inspiration, you are very welcome to check out my Pins of the Week board on Pinterest πŸ™‚

Bernie has written a post with her usual clarity to celebrate five years of blogging at Needle and Foot. That is no mean achievement and I agree with her that blogs might not be as ‘fashionable’ as they were five years ago but they still are an extremely effective way of building a ‘community’, allowing everyone who reads and/or writes blogs to contribute.

Patty has posted a tutorial for quick and easy to make coasters. Another great use of fabric scraps πŸ™‚

Shannon discusses how to use colour combinations from nature as inspiration for choosing fabrics.

If you are keen on applique but find some solid colour fabrics a little difficult to hand stitch then you will be interested in Nancy’s recommendation... (I know, I am a bit of a tease, but just click the link!).

Happy Stitching!

Allison
