Whew! From basting mishaps to a a finished quilt!

Whew! Am I glad to declare this quilt finished? You bet I am! 😀

Time to step back and begin to enjoy ‘Sixty Degree Summer’ in all it’s pretty, puffy glory.

The quilt measures 46″ x 61″. The blocks are from the Sixty Slice quilt by Leah Day  – designed to make the most of a pack of Fat Eighths – I adapted the pattern to use a pack of Fat Quarters.

I am glad I persevered with this quilt. I am falling back in love with it now I’ve had a chance to step back and enjoy a view of the whole rather than getting over-heated by the close up view. (Read about the basting and quilting woes I experienced with this quilt in last weeks blog post, Pin Basting Methods ).

As the making of this quilt was inspired by seeing the Leah Day pattern and was not scheduled into my sewing goals it definitely counts as a Squirrel of a quilt so I’m linking it to Sandra’s DrEAMi link up .Also linking it with Michelle’s Beauties Pageant to celebrate an unexpected finish! Both Sandra and Michelle have finishes to share along with galleries of inspiring quilts in their link ups 🙂

    • Thanks Laura! I will add the quilt to the stack on the spare bed and leave it for a little while – I’m sure the bad memories will have faded and I might even be pleasantly surprised next time I see it!

  1. I just love this! I also like the idea of making the most of fat eighths (or any precept for that matter) as I hate the patterns where you trim down the 5″ to 4.5″ for example. Your fabrics are beautiful and hopefully, like childbirth, all the woes and pain is forgotten now you have the beauty on your lap! Thank you for linking up with DrEAMi!
