Welcome to Saturday Quilting Bring and Share. Bring along your projects(s) and take part in the sharing of tips and ideas with other members of our Worldwide Quilting Community. Use the links below to delve into what’s being shared, leave your contributions in the comments box of the blog sites you visit.

On Friday I shared all the scrappy goings on happening in my sewing room. In the evening I switched to a bit of big stitch hand quilting. Today there’s been no sewing because, joy of joys, we have actually had a blue sky, dry day! There have been so many rainy days through February and March that there’s been little chance to do any outdoor jobs. Today I constructed my mini greenhouse, sowed some tomato seeds and enjoyed being able to step in and out of the house without having to don layers of waterproof, windproof clothing!

The soil is far too wet to dig or weed but I did a bit of tidying and clearing to give space for the new growth coming through. There was time to take a look at the first Cherry blossom opening in the warm sunshine.

As the weather forecast is for more rain through the next couple of weeks there’s a good chance my sewing projects will continue to progress faster than the gardening projects!

Here are the links into our Worldwide Quilting Community:

Ever tried to make a Sawtooth Star block with directional fabric? Erica at Kitchen Table Quilts has produced an easy to follow tutorial showing how to keep directional fabric orientated the same way whilst making four-at-a-time Flying Geese. Download the two page tutorial here.

I find Christina Cameli’s free motion quilting tutorials and books really inspiring. During Covid lockdowns Christina uploaded calming videos to her IG page showing how to create different free-motion designs – just her, a whiteboard and a pen. This week she has launched her ‘Free-Motion Circle’ site and membership. I’ve joined and I’m already enjoying being part of the community she’s creating around the mutual interest of free-motion quilting. To find out more about what Christina is offering, visit the site.

It’s clear I’m not the only one determined to use up fabric scraps. There are a lot of patchwork quilters sharing their scrap projects on their blogs. Diann has used scrap fabric to create several useful items including a practical zipper pouch and a quick to make table topper. Emily has gathered together links to her popular scrap busting quilt tutorials. Rachel and friends having been using their scraps to make Dresden Plates into a collaborative quilt. Amy Smart has plenty of suggestions for ‘Sorting, Saving and Using Fabric Scraps‘ as well as a tutorial all about making vintage style scrappy Log Cabin blocks. And Bernie shares the heart quilt she made from pink scraps for her Grand Daughters when they visit.

The March edition of ‘Tips and Tutorials on the 22nd‘ is ready to view on Kathleen’s blog site. It’s a great place to pick up handy piecing and quilting tips as well as project tutorials and more. I really recommend my fellow blog writers pop a reminder in their diary so as not to miss out on taking part in the link up 🙂 On the subject of monthly link ups there’s also the March edition of ‘Favourite Finish’ to visit and/or take part 🙂

Happy Stitching! And Happy Easter!

Allison
