The ‘get it finished’ mindset I mentioned recently has remained with me. Looking around my sewing room I found a quick finish in the form of the table runner I made alongside my Patchwork Quilting Beginners class way back in January. The unfinished runner has sat on my sewing trolley for the past 10 months. I’d got as far as pin basting the runner so it was a straightforward project to finish. I used an off-white thread to do straight line quilting with a walking foot. The binding was already made, ready to use (made as part of the class demo). I machine stitched it to the front before hand stitching the folded edge to the back. All done!

The second completed project was a ‘start to finish’ job. Rather than put away the left over fabrics from the Christmas tree skirt I made a couple of weeks ago I decided to make another one using the same pattern and method as described in my previous post. This time around I cut the squares to finish at 3″ rather than 4″ and cut the border strips a little narrower (making use of smaller scraps) so the latest tree skirt measures 28″ across rather than 38″.

I’ve listed the Ohio Star runner in my Folksy Shop and I’ll be using the Christmas Tree Skirt as an ‘eye catcher’ on a stall I’m running at a local Christmas Market.

It feels good to be finishing projects! There are still many more to be tackled. Maybe ‘tackled’ is not quite the right word? I intend to enjoy the sewing I choose to do so less tackling more ‘pleasurable endeavouring’ I think!

Next up is the first of two Rainbow Scrap Challenge Quilts. I’ve stitched 168 blocks together, adding a black background border, whilst waiting for delivery of the fleece backing and bright binding fabric.

Hopefully the parcel will arrive tomorrow, if not, there are plenty of other projects lying around waiting to be stitched!
