Welcome to Saturday Quilting Bring & Share. Bring along your project(s) and enjoy a bit of sewing with our Worldwide Quilting Community as we share news and handy tips. Hope you will find plenty to interest and inspire you as you click on the links in this week’s post. 🙂
I’ve made a bit of progress with the Rainbow Scrap Challenge – a little basket of paired green scraps ready to be stitched together into blocks.
As for the Scrappy Trip Quilt Along organised by Allison at Woodberry Way I’ve had a brief flash of common sense! I really would like to make another Trip Around the World quilt BUT now is not the time! Best to keep my patchwork quilting expectations real! Although…
…This terms Beginners classes got underway at Purple Stitches on Saturday. I usually make the course quilt alongside the students so I can easily demonstrate each block and all the stages of putting a quilt together. I thought this term I’d make blocks as I demonstrate the techniques but not go on to piece all of the 36 required to complete another quilt… Hey! Ho! I cut a few pieces of black, grey and taupe print fabrics from my stash, made a couple of blocks for the classes but now I’m curious to see what the Dashing Stars quilt would look like in this muted palette. 🙂
Here’s a small selection of the quilty goodness being shared around the world:
Working with fabric scraps is a gloriously messy business 😀 Beth has been getting down and messy with her scraps and what-do-you-know a patriotic table topper has emerged! Visit her at Laugh Love Quilt for the Monday Making link up.
I expect you have used video tutorials to learn patchwork quilting skills? Carole Lyles Shaw has posted a 5 minute video tutorial explaining some of the techniques she uses to create her ‘Fractured Triangles’ quilts. It’s great to have the opportunity to watch an accomplished pattern designer and patchwork tutor sharing her skills and know-how.
Over on her blog, Cluck Cluck Sew, Allison shares her resolve to give herself a fabric spending allowance after a year of using up stash. Allison always manages to create bright and beautifully styled photos of her quilts, in this post she has a great montage of her quilts of 2019.
Have you seen the recent film version of Little Women? I really enjoyed the film and oh! what a great advert for patchwork quilts – there were many to enjoy! Melony has listed all her tv and film quilt spots -they are many and varied.
