Well! I just managed to squeeze a finish in before the end of the month! That’s two finished quilts in two months – steady going for me!
This is my fourth version of the Dashing Stars quilt. The design is by Viv Poon of Purple Stitches. It is the pattern used by participants in the Beginners Course. Last week I shared photos of the quilts made by the latest graduates of the course. There are such a useful mix of skills to be learned through making this quilt – a great grounding from which to explore the craft of patchwork quilting.
I’m very happy that a visiting Aunt has taken home this particular Dashing Stars quilt 🙂
Yesterday we had a whole afternoon of sunshine. I wrapped up warm and dashed out to deliver copies of the local newsletter to houses in a couple of nearby streets. Today the weather is a foretaste of what is to come over the weekend – very wet, very grey and windy too!
Determined to brighten things up a bit, I shared photos on Instagram of the flowers I could find in the garden (before the rain started lashing down) and a few indoor blooms too. We all need a colour boost in the Northern Hemisphere!
Keeping with the topic of colour, I am looking forward to Rachel Hauser’s blog series, ‘Quilter’s Color Quest’, based on her book, The Quilter’s Field Guide to Color.
Encouraged by Rachel’s recent blog post I have finally extracted the colour swatches from the back of the book. They need to be cut up, ready for the ‘swatch challenges’ found in each chapter of the book. By working through the book and following the Quilter’s Color Quest I’m hoping to gain a better understanding of colour and the language of colour so I can choose fabrics for my patchwork projects with more confidence and maybe even a bit of flair 😉
Linking with Michelle at From Bolt to Beauty for the Beauties Pageant; Wendy for The Peacock Party (even though my monochrome quilt is certainly no Peacock!); Alycia for Finished (or Not) Friday. and Cheryl for the Favourite Finish Monthly Link Up.
