Fresh fabrics brighten the gloom

Thank goodness for bright fabrics! I’ll spare you any photos of the grey gloom outside but as we slip into the final days of January I think it is safe to say that the overwhelming memories attached to this month will be of rain, high winds and depressingly low light levels. Crisp, frosty Winter days have been few and far between. Being British I do of course have an obsession with the weather, thankfully I’m also obsessed with fabrics. Within the past 24 hours I have received not one but two packages of fabric loveliness to dispel the gloom (these bundles are my contribution to Main Crush Monday – link at bottom of page).
Fabrics from Purple Stitches
Close up fabrics from Purple StitcesYesterday evening Viv kindly hand delivered eight fat quarters of the super bright ‘Kitty’ collection by Makower. I’m going to cut these up and make a fresh example of the Beginners Quilt to hang in Purple Stitches (where the fabrics are already on the shelves). The next course starts this Saturday so I’ll be printing student handouts and checking through my  notes over the next few days.
Today a package slipped through the letterbox from Lucy at Secret Garden Quilting. The fabrics were wrapped so sweetly :-).
Moda 30's fabrics
I had to do an internet search to find these fabrics for a quilt I’m making. The motivation for the quilt was to use up a collection of Moda 1930’s repro fabrics. Ever since I started ‘using up’ these fabrics I seem to have done nothing else but purchase more so I can finish the quilt top!

Saturday Quilting Bring & Share: Thank you for the encouraging responses received following my recent floating of this linky idea. I was especially pleased to find that readers had followed the links to discover more and continue the ‘conversations’. I’m hoping the linky will be another outlet for the generosity of the lovely on-line quilty community to which we belong. I’m preparing a post for this Saturday. If you’d like to join in on Saturday please do share your blog or Instagram post – show us the project you bring to the sewing day and share the links to posts, tutorials etc that have caught your interest through the week.
Linking today with Beth for Main Crush Monday.
