Finishing Runners

It’s been my privilege to run workshops on two Saturday afternoons guiding four participants through the making of a Star runner. In demonstrating to a class I nearly always make a fresh version of the class pattern.

Autumn Star II against beech leaves 🙂

I pulled the fabrics for this version of my Star Runner pattern from my little stash. I’ve called it Autumn II as it the second I’ve made in the colours of the season (see all my other versions here). I used a walking foot to quilt in and around the central star before switching to free motion quilting to create a meander across the rest of the runner. (I used my favourite dark gold thread: Aurifil 2975, 40wt). I finished the runner with a scrappy binding. I am really happy with the colours and fabrics used in this version 🙂
Here are the runners made by the workshop members. Isn’t it fascinating to see the effect different fabric choices have on the look of just one pattern?

My Star Runner pattern and the Chieveley fabrics can be obtained from Purple Stitches.
So pleased to have a finish to share with Myra and everyone over at Busy Hands Quilts for Finished or not Friday (Myra has featured a great new pattern release).
