Wahoo! I finished a quilt! In fact I had a bit of a Groundhog Day – a finished quilt, faithful quilt holder-uppers and a sunny National Trust garden 🙂

Thursday 9th August is the opening day of Festival of Quilts. The largest annual quilt exhibition in the UK is held at the NEC (National Exhibition Centre), Birmingham, slap-bang in the centre of England. Many of my friends are going and I’m excited for Viv who has taken Purple Stitches to FOQ – she’s on Stand H11.
I’ve never been to the Festival but this year I’ve sent a quilt for the first time. ‘Carrie Nation Variation’ is entered in the ‘Traditional Quilt’ category and is number FO68 in the Competition Catalogue. A friend has kindly offered to take a photo so I’ll be able to view my quilt hanging in the gallery 🙂
A warm welcome to Saturday Quilting Bring & Share 🙂 Join in this virtual sewing day: Bring along the project you are working on and share the quilty conversations that have caught your interest over the past week. Add your bring and shares in the comments section at the end of this post.
My ‘bring’ is some foundation paper piecing. I’ve designed a table runner and now I’m testing out my idea in fabric and writing the pattern. The runner has a some straightforward foundation pieced blocks and some crazy patchwork panels. I’m hoping making the table runner and practicing these two techniques can be developed into a workshop.
