My ‘Summer Mist’ quilt is finished! I’m particularly pleased with this quilt as I kept my cool and managed to free motion quilt a design over the entire quilt top. It’s just a meander, I kept it fairly open with a scale of about 2 inches. The quilt measures 58″ x 45″. I used Hobbs 80/20 wadding. The backing is from a length of Moda fabric joined across the middle of the quilt.

Good to have a quilt finished and another two on the verge of being completed ๐
Today was a very special day. Our first out of town trip since last September! Much as I enjoy living in my home town the change of scene really was welcome. We drove 55 miles through Hampshire and the New Forest to Hengistbury Head, Dorset. From there we walked along the seafront to Boscombe Pier and back. The sky remained clear blue all day, the acres of pale sand looked amazing and the strong breeze whipped up waves which provided the perfect soundscape to our day by the sea ๐

I hope you are able to benefit from a change of scene – maybe a visit will become the inspiration for your next project?
Linking with Michelle for the Beauties Pageant. Michelle explains how she selected fabrics for her bright and cheerful version of the popular Plaid-ish quilt. Also linking with Sandra who is hosting TGIFF and has a quilt finish of her own to share.

I am glad you were able to get out and about! I am too! It feels so good to be on vacation, having a change of pace and scenery! )
Indeed! Enjoy your break! So glad to hear from you Laura – I was just about to message you to find out if you are OK ๐
Thank you, Allison! ๐
So glad you got to venture on an outing. The Summer Mist quilt is adorable. Your quilting does look really good.
Lovely sea photos, ah sea and sand and sky – there is nothing better for the soul. I had some of that myself today: we drove along Heritage Road which hugs the shore of Lake Erie and the colours of the lake were incredible today. We did a ‘drive-through’ meal at a local winery, such a great idea. Restaurants are once again shut, open only for takeout (take away as you say) so it was pretty nifty. You booked your time online, showed up, got a menu, (remained in the vehicle, masks on), put on your flashers when you were ready to order. Out came a girl, took our orders and in about 15 minutes out she came with them, and off we went to find a spot either on a beach in a park or at home. It was only 12C so we opted to eat at home, but it was so nice just to get out and drive 20 minutes up the road! Summer Mist is just beautiful, fabrics, design and your quilting! I love the soft meander you did. Thank you for linking up with TGIFF!
We haven’t had more than a ‘takeout’ coffee yet but we have booked a short break later in May (Weymouth – another trip to the coast) so we’ll have our first experience of dining out for over a year.
Stay safe and continue enjoying the little pleasures to be found even under Covid restrictions ๐
